Perfect Love: A Christian Manga with Biblical Gospel-Centered Story for Christians

Hi, there, I'm Musume Aimée a Christian manga artist (manga-ka). And I just want to share you a little background about my first bible-based manga, and a little bit about me.

Ever since I was a young little girl, I've always liked to draw. I remember, I would often doodle in my class on my little notebook during breaks and sometimes, even when the teacher was present. (I know, what a naughty little child I was.) And it was at a young age that I first had this thought in my mind: Who should I pray to? and even when I grew up as and adult, I thought, "Who is the One above us all?" And in 2017, these questions were answered.

Now as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, I want to use all my skills and talents for His Glory, to dedicate my time and life for His purpose. And hopefully to finish what He called me to do. On February 2022, the first episode of my first Christian manga was released, and it is called Perfect Love. Initially, I wanted Perfect Love to be a video game and on the early stage of its development in late 2020 it wasn't even called Perfect Love yet, it was called Agape. But after many thoughts, prayers and considerations, I decided to switch from video game to manga. And so in August 2021, I started working on Perfect Love officially as a Christian manga, and on the same year the trailer was also released.

As an evidently Christian manga, Perfect Love is a series that is based in the values and principles of Christianity, with a faith-based narrative centered around the Holy Bible and the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ as its heart. It is a Christian manga created with bible-based facts and truths with original fictional story, which is both refreshing and exciting for Christian readers. Furthermore, it faithfully abides in the sound doctrine of the Christian faith, and incorporates the Holy Bible as both an inspiration and authority. As a Christian manga artist, it is my personal desire to share the Gospel to encourage Christians in their faith, not to be ashamed, but to shine theirs lights, for the Glory of God, in a loving and truthful way.

Perfect Love is a story that shows God’s love and His power to transform and redeem people and how He works in their life. There are seven main characters: Courage, Faith, Hope, Grace, Charity, Prudent and Boaz, which is inspired from the Christian virtues, Boaz in Hebrew means “strength”. The manga tells the story of each of the character’s life: before there were saved and after they are saved, their experiences as they encounter hardships and tribulations as they faithfully walk as believers. It is a story of transformation and overcoming the world with patience and perseverance in faith, by the Grace and the Love of God, which is found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Perfect Love is an encouraging and inspiring adventure manga, that offers complexity and relatability. It shows the sin-problem that humanity has to deal with since's Adam's fall, it deals with the corrupt nature of humanity and their futile efforts to set their own standard of righteousness.The plot and the character develops in a slow pace, which offers a deep emotions and impactful messages with meaning. It is a Christian Allegory that follows the protagonist as they walk by faith to the path that leads to life.

Perfect Love is takes place in the Empire of Tenebris, which translates to "darkness" in latin, while in French "Ténèbre". Tenebris is ruled in tyranny by the villainous enemies of the True King. The narrative is set during the empire's 5th industrial revolution. And, as the series continues, the protagonists will be journeying to several places in this Christian manga, revealing continents and countries, with a lot of unique characters.

For the art and creative process, I work using a simple graphic tablet to create digitally hand-drawn illustrations in manga art style, and for the settings I build 3D models like houses, buildings, bridges, airships and various objects, etc... It's quite labor intensive and time consuming, and sometimes my own stubbornness would kick in and I just couldn't move on to the next panel obsessing with certain details, which I'm sure a lot of artist could relate to. But I love and enjoy creating art.

Perfect Love is not a mainstream manga, and as a Christian manga artist, I wish for it to remain as an independent project, a labor of love. It is very special and personal to me, I know it's just a little webcomic, but it is not just a project nor a product. It is a part of me: in essence, Perfect Love is my love letter to the Lord Jesus Christ, an encouragement to Christians and an invitation to the lost to seek God and hopefully to find salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Additionally, the main reason behind the title of this manga is to show the heights and depths of the Love of God, which is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. And also to reflect the Bible verse that says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:" an excerpt from 1 John 4:18. I believe it is very important and essential that Christians remember it.

Perfect Love is a free to read Christian manga, prayerfully made with love.
It is published online as a webcomic, which means you can enjoy it from the comfort of your home at anytime and anywhere, without a cost. It is made it in such a way, so that Christians can have an easy and accessible Bible-based manga that they can enjoy.

The Lord God provides everything I need and even grants the desires of my heart: I lack nothing, therefore I'm quite content and a happy little woman, as it is. And having a godly husband taking care of me, supporting and spoiling me, I have all the reasons to be grateful for.

And despite the constant eyestrain and sometimes wrist and back pain, at the end of the day, seeing the readers enjoying the manga and even some of them giving God the Glory, brings me so much joy, and with that my soul is glad and satisfied.
